Lapizuli designs is an eco-conscious brand that specializes in creating functional and wearable pieces of art out of what people consider as waste. The idea of substituting conventional materials with waste stemmed from the concern about the impact of plastic and textile pollution our environment.
By creating these pieces out of waste we are presenting sustainable alternatives to women that are equally as functional, durable and aesthetically appealing at a good price point. Our unique approach to design and the innovative handcraft technique we use to finish these items set us apart from other brands.
We collect PET plastic from source before they sustain any scratch and discarded while Textile offcuts are collected from fashion houses or we source through our sustainable partners who collect such items.
We sell directly to customers through our online store, on Instagram and at trade fairs. We are passionate about young women and we have a training program to empower them with unique skills. From these women we also select to join our small but growing team.
It's been over a year since we put out our products in the market and so far we are happy with how the products have been recieved, however we can achieve so much more with funding.
Our products range from brooches to handbags and we use between 1-20 bottles per item. Our goal for the next one year is to sell about 1000 units of bags at an average of $35 and 2000 units of smaller pieces at an average of $5. Which will help use put about 30,000 plastic bottles and a lot of textile offcuts back to use.
We will invest in our plastic collection process, increase our marketing to reach more customers both local and international and employ 6-8 more young people on our team to enable us produce more to meet demand.
